Dog-Games Any Size Jumping Class

Judge - Keith Williams

Comments from Kate Prosser, August Show Secretary, Roseland DTC -

"The class is very much appreciated by so many competitors and it is really nice to see some of the old "stars" coming out of retirement and tearing round as if it was the World Championships at stake. We had so many appreciative comments from people with old and young dogs alike and from all heights and standards. Those with old dogs who still want to have a go but cannot make full height anymore love it but so do those handlers with young dogs who would be in novice or open mini classes so that their dogs can get some enthusiasm tearing around a lovely flowing course to start off with instead of plunging them straight into twisty courses where they have to be nagged and shouted at all the way round. Amongst the rosette winners are long retired senior, novice and starter dogs (third place is a veteran Nova Scotian Duck Tolling Retriever who was in Novice by dint of his owner getting there with her Staffie/Doberman cross called Boogie - not with him! I add this to give as a retort to those people who complain that they will never beat the old advanced and senior dogs in this class - Dutch did! And he is not the only ex starter/novice dog ahead of a few fairly recently retired seniors) - there is also a young mini (not yet learned to weave properly) in the places too. Thank you again for sponsoring this lovely class. It is a wonderful idea and very much appreciated by both the clubs hosting the show and the competitors - even those who don't have a dog in the class all say it is a really exciting class to watch."

"Dutch and I both thank you for these fabulous classes. This little ginger ninja, although only 6 years old, simply loses confidence over 30" jumps. I love to see him leave the ring as though he wants to go round again. Today's course was a beauty, although oxygen at the end of the first straight would have been appreciated! Thanks to all concerned."

"Pictured is "Pip"(aka Dowgri Debut) proudly sporting her 13th place rosette, after a fabulous clear at Roseland. I had entered her into anysize to give her ring experience, as it had only been mastering the weaves that has stopped us entering Mini classes. The trouble is, she is now getting pretty darn good at weaves!! So we are soon going have to say good-bye to anysize classes. Luckily Pip has had such huge fun in the couple of shows we've competed at, she would like to thank "Dog-Games" for giving her the chance to show off her paces, whilst otherwise she'd have had to watch her kennel mates from outside of the ring (and I think her Kennel mates are now a little worried about this new kid on the block) !!
