RECOGNISING & REDUCING DOGS' STRESS IN
AGILITY
Tampere - Finland

Taina Aura (standing behind the right hand chair) kindly invited Sally Hopkins to Tampere in Finland to give a weekend lecture about recognising and reducing stress in dogs, with a particular emphasis on agility training and shows.
The audience discovered how stress and excitement effected dogs ability to concentrate and learn, and how long-term stress levels (which can be found in a large number of dogs, regardless of whether they train or compete in any dog activity) can have a profound effect not only on dogs behaviour but their health as well. They also learnt how dogs use the visual trigger (plus scent and sounds) of their surroundings to build up either good or bad associations with what they are being taught.
