MEMBER'S GENERAL QUESTION -
BUNGEE LEADS
|
I have just been told about Bungee Pupee leads by my Alexander Technique therapist. I have a 4+ yr. old rescue mongrel bitch - very excitable - pulls on lead++. We have been to training class for 7 months when she was 18 months old. Did a little good - but I am 62 yr. old, have severe osteoporosis & am only 4 foot 8 ins tall. My dog is about the size of spaniel, looks collie/Alsatian, but has marked terrier traits. I am currently using a half choke collar & a Kumfi halter. These are OK to a point, but she will not tolerate the halter if crossing even the smallest area of grass - then if the halter is off her nose, & the grass is damp, she can, & often has, pulled me over if she sees another dog or cat. I'd love to try the bungee lead - since Lady is so strong, should I get the 3 cord one? Thanks! |

Many thanks for your enquiry about the Bungee Pupee lead. Yes, it sounds like you will need the 3 cord lead (definitely not the 4 cord as this is for German Shepherd or big Labrador sized dogs). When you use it it should expand as the dog pulls and then gently contract back (while you stand still) bringing the dog gently and consistently back to you while taking almost all the "pull" between you and the dog. If the lead is too strong (which it shouldn't be) then the lead will not expand at all and will feel just like an ordinary lead - if this is the case just send it back to me and I will exchange it for a 2 cord lead. |
