NIGHT TIME VISIT
(A poem by Margaret Maund)

On what started off as
An ordinary night,
Ended up with such
Joy and delight!

First, a big "plop" upon my bed
And I looked up to see
My dear Border Collie dog
Smiling back at me

My arms enfolded him,
He was soft and warm,
The sight of him sent
My heart in a storm

Such love surrounded us,
But only for a short while,
Just long enough to make
My sad heart smile

Six months ago my Danny had died,
Now he'd come back to show me
He was well and strong
And I needn't feel lonely

I know he's there
Waiting for me
With our bond of love
In Eternity

His spirit lives on,
As all dogs' do,
Our love was so strong
That it set him free
And with this brief visit
He had done the same for me.....

About the author of this poem - Margaret Maund

Margaret is a very special friend of ours who is a spiritual healer of both humans and animals. She has always had a great empathy with animals and has made some very special friends throughout her long and happy life.

 
One of her most beloved companions was a Border Collie called Danny, who had a particularly strong "link" with her and she found his death of old age very hard to accept. As her poem explains, six months after his death she was awoken one night with the amazing spectacle of seeing him lying on her bed, as he used to when he was alive, nuzzling up to her with love and understanding. He seemed to have come to reassure her that he was with her in spirit, that she need not mourn his passing any more, and that he wanted her to "let him go". It was a very moving experience for her and one that she holds particularly dear in her memory and so she decided to write this poem to reassure dog owners that even though their beloved pets may die, their presence and comfort is reassuringly very close by......
