Product Description

  • Great Motivators
Raggits are ideal motivators for dogs that love to chase, kill and play tugger. They are particularly suitable for those dogs which may not be interested in rubber or plastic toys and may have sensitive mouths (sometimes called "soft mouths") and do not like holding heavy or hard items in their mouth - particularly if it tastes and smells strongly of rubber or chemicals.

  • Chase and Kill
They have been specifically designed by Dog-Games to fulfill various instincts in dogs.

The variations of colour (or shades of "grey", as dogs do not see colours as humans do) make the movement of the Raggit visually stimulating for dogs to chase. The small sudden jerky movements at the end of the Raggit as it erratically moves along the ground are very enticing to dogs and stimulate their desire to chase and kill.

Be careful not to move the Raggit too much - if the dog is unable to get near the toy it will become frustrated and give up playing the game. Remember this is not a competition between handler and dog - allow the dog to get it!

  • Relieves Tension in the Jaws
The soft texture of the fleece fabric is very appealing to many dogs who enjoy chewing and gripping it with their teeth. This need to hold objects between their teeth can be caused by a build up of tension in their jaw muscles when they are over excited. They release this tenseness and tension into the Raggit and thus reduce the build up of adrenaline in their body. However, it must be noted that too long a time playing tugging games can also build up excitement levels, so it is up to the handler to maintain a happy medium when playing with this toy.

  • Not to be left with the dog
It is recommended that Raggits are only used when handlers want to play and interact with their dogs (ie using them as motivators when training) and dogs should not be left alone with these fleece toys - they are very chewable!

  • Prevents Injuries from sudden jerking and jarring
Dogs also enjoy the benefits of the stretchy springiness of the Raggit, enabling them to pull as hard as they like without jarring their bones or muscles, no matter what the handler is doing at the other end! Dogs that love playing tugger games love Raggits!

  • Hide & Play
This Short Raggit is small enough to tuck into your pocket - ideal for agility and flyball training, or while you are out on walks with your dog. It is out of sight and mind of your dog but can quickly appear for a tuggy game as a reward for good behaviour (eg. coming when called).

  • Lure and Catch
We strongly recommend that while your dog is playing tugger with you, you quietly reach out to touch the top of its harness. This will enable you to get hold of your dog, particularly if it is "hand shy" and does not want to be caught to be put on a lead.

Introduce the toy to the dog by playing with it at home, then when it is really keen to play with you you can then take it out on walks as well.

After a while your puppy or dog will begin to look forward to having its harness held as it knows it will then play tugger games with you - never mind if sometimes the lead is put on afterwards... "It is worth the gamble", your dog will be thinking!

  • Not Interested.....
If your dog shows no interest in the fleece toy, smear it with a tiny amount of sticky food (such as cheese spread, pate, meat or fish paste, peanut butter, etc). Rub it well into the fleece and this wll encourage your dog to mouth and hold on to it. If the Raggit starts to become smelly or dirty just pop it in the washing machine (and tumble drier, if you wish) and it will be as good as new.
